چکیده:

After synthesis and manufacturing of drug, purification has a special place in pharmaceutical industries.
For this purpose, common methods such as extraction, recrystallization, and column chromatography have
been used for many years but some of them are expensive and not cost-effective. In present article, activated
natural zeolite, clinoptilolite as an adsorptive solid phase for citalopram base and elimination of its impurities
has been used for reaching over 99% purity in final product, citalopram hydrobromide. Citalopram
hydrobromide is an antidepressant drug and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and its higher purity
results in higher efficiency and lesser adverse drug reactions.
