چکیده:

The effects of chemical ingredients of an emulsion Polymerization consisting of water as the media of polymerization, Styrene and Methylmethacrylate (MMA) as monomers and Potassium Persulphate as an initiator on nanostructure changes of pristine sodium montmorillonite (Na-MMT) -one of the usual nanoclay in preparing polymeric nanocomposites- was studied. Results of X-ray Diffraction (XRD) showed that by mixing these components in aqueous media with Na-MMT basal space of Na-MMT could expand until structural alignment of layers were completely destroyed. This disorder will be the first and most important step to achieve exfoliated morphology of nanocomposites
