چکیده:

As the average age of Iran Air’s employees has been increasing over the years and over half of them are eligible for retirement within the next 3-5 years, a tremendous opportunity exists for knowledge management in this large government company. The identification, capture, application, sharing, dissemination, and creation of knowledge will be critical functions for Iran Air to preserve its knowledge base. This paper highlights the unique challenges faced by this large government organization in capturing and managing its current knowledge, based on a three-month field study and direct observation conducted in years 2005 and 2006, and offers applicable knowledge management strategies as a short-term remedyto its current dilemma.
