چکیده:

Groundwater is one of the major of the major water resources used for domestic , agricultural and industrial purposes, especially in aria and semi-aria regions. Nowadays. In addition to quantity problems caused by excessive withdrawal, degradation of groundwater qualitydue to discharge of wastewater are an important issue for sustainable development of civil societies. Steel industries dispose of large quantities of different pollutants into the environment each year. Cyanide compounds are among the most dangerous pollutants which are each year. Cyanide compounds are among the most dangerous pollutants which are released into the groundwater from metal industries including steel production plants. In this research, migration of cyanide was investigated using laboratory testes. Collected groundwater groundwater and soil samples water studied by column tests. Columns with different loading rates and soil conditions were investigated. Results showed there was an acclimatization period after which degradation of cyanide started accompanied by increasing concentrations of ammonia, which was probady produced through biological activities of microorganisms and transformation of nitrogen contained in CNto ammonia. Afteracclimatization period degradation started and followed a zero-order reaction rate mechanicsThe presence of metals caused an initial reduction of cyanide which was probably through complex formation.
