چکیده:

Considering high rate of return of petrochemical plants and their importance in national economy, clients aim at compressing the schedule of related development projects using fast tracking approach. Due to initiation of construction activities with civil works, civil and structural drawings are the first design deliverables that will be used in construction. Such challenging circumstances require special courses of action on the part of project manager to minimize the risks involved. In this paper, the author’s experiences in design and procurement of civil and structural works of petrochemical plants in terms of project management are presented. Based on the lessons learned, some guidelines and suggestions are provided to more efficiently overcome the challenges that are encountered.
