One-dimensional CdS nanocrystals were manufactured by solvothermal method using cadmium acetate and thiourea in ethylenediamine at 150°C and 5-6hours. The CdS nanocrystals were characterized using techniques such as X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), UV-Vis. absorption spectroscopy. XRD indicated that CdS nanocrystals have two crystal phases with hexagonal and cubic structure. SEM images show that diameter of CdS nanowires are 45 nm. Also SEM images show that cadmium acetate is more suitable than cadmium chloride in the formation of CdS nanowires in this approach at 150°C.
