چکیده:

Monitoring general and pitting corrosion in corrosive media is one of the most important corrosion problems in industries. Different methods are used for the evaluation of corrosion rate. Online monitoring with Corrater, weight loss of coupons and linear polarization resistance (LPR) (electrochemical method) methods are used in this study. One of the most used systems in measuring corrosion rate is the open or close cooling water systems used in cooling towers. Study in a pilot plant is the best choice. In the pilot plant used, operation conditions (pH, total hardness, quantity of corrosion inhibitor and scale dispersant, temperature … ) were controlled. The conditions in a pilot are similar to a real cooling tower with the same commercial corrosion inhibitors and scale dispersants used for tests. The coupons used are low carbon steel (Cl018).
