چکیده:

The potential use of the immobilized Phanerochaete Chrysosporium within loofa sponge to remove Hg (II) form aqueous solutions was evaluated using bare loofa as a control. The immobilization of P.Chrysosporium within loofa (2.5 cm diameter, 3-4 mm Thickness) was carried out at 35°C, 100rpm and the incubation time last for 2 days. The average amount of immobilized P.Chrysosporium in loofa sponge was 419 mg/ g dry loofa. Biosorption equilibrium was established in 60min and it seems that biosorption did not change more with time. The maximum capacity of loofa-immobilized p.chrysosporium for Hg (II) removal was determined using specification given in kinetic profiles. i.e., 57.8 mg Hg (II)/g.
