As the departure point for further studies targeted in improving the performance measures of in-building wireless networks, it is of utmost importance to have an accurate view of the channel employed in the transmitter-receiver communication. To this end, we present in this paper a wideband multi-input multi-output (MIMO) channel modeling procedure for 5-GHz band indoor scenarios which takes into account both the underlying propagation channel and transmit/receive antennas. With the help of the established model, some deficiencies which may arise in current popular measurement procedures of indoor MIMO channels are studied and hints are provided for directing more efficient and well-organized measurement campaigns.
