چکیده:

In this paper, a thermo-metallurgical model is proposed based on a two-dimensional finite element analysis to simulate the cooling behavior of steel wire rod under different cooling media. The model predicts the microstructure, which can be used to estimate the mechanical properties, in term of interlamellar pearlite spacing. To verify the results of the modeling, time-temperature histories during cooling of high carbon steel under different conditions have been determined and microstructural studies have been performed by means of optic and scanning electron microscopy. The comparison between the predictions and the experimental results indicates reliability of the proposed model.
