چکیده:

A numerical model has been used to predict natural convection heat transfer from an array of horizontal rectangular thick fins attached on a horizontal base plate. The three-dimensional elliptic governing equations of laminar flow and heat transfer were solved using finite volume based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) scheme. Typical results have been compared with available experimental data from the literature and good accuracy was observed. Based on the verified model the fluid flow and thermal structure around the fin were illustrated and convection heat transfers from an array for various fin lengths was determined.
