چکیده:

In this article, we investigate the interaction between recent developments of Tabriz and its suburban with the increasing number of commuters. Suburbia imposes negative effects on the urban transportation network and it causes unsustainability in urban transportation network of Tabriz. This phenomenon in Tabriz includes new development of city, shanty towns, informal settlements and neighborhood villages which are placed in legal boundary of the city. In addition to informal settlements and neighborhood villages which have caused negative effects on the urban transportation network, rapid growth of city in suburbs in the recent decade has imposed heavy traffic on the transportation network. Furthermore, Tabriz has not an efficient public transport system. On the one hand, Lack of metro system, bus transportation system and taxis and on the other hand, horizontal growth of the city increase the use of individual transportation (cars).Regarding to statistics of Organization of Transportation and Traffic of Tabriz, in 2009 only 31% of people used bus transportation system. New urban growth in suburbs and inefficiency of using the potential of the lands in the center of the city, cause increasing tendency of people to live in suburbs and it leads to more commuters and with regarding to lack of transportation system between the city and its suburbs it causes increase in the usage of individual transportation, consequently it grounds heavy traffic in transportation network therefore it has negative effects on the entertainment. This article discusses theIconsequences of this kind of growth on sustainability of the transportation network of Tabriz and poses some strategies to reduce pendulum migration to Tabriz.
