This paper presents a novel grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system with MPPT and Fuzzy logic reactive power controller. This system uses two loop controllers for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for reactive power control. To reduce the complexity, cost and number of power conversion, a single stage PV system is used. The reference current is calculated from MPPT and FLC controllers, then by means of robust predictive current controller (RPCC) and current controlled voltage source inverter (CCVSI) the current injects to grid with low THD (<5%). The system operation has been divided into two modes, day and night. The system performs MPPT and reactive power control in day mode and in night mode, performs only reactive power control such as STATCOM operation. The reactive control in two modes is carried out in both capacitive and inductive statues continuously. Mathematical modelling and computer simulation with MATLAB/SIMULUNK software package is presented. Simulationresult shows fast and good dynamic response of the system with low harmonic distortion of output current.
