چکیده:

Special advantages of asphalt pavement have made them the most common used type in Iran.Identification of common failures and also predictable functions of these pavement failures is animportant criterion in design and next apply steps, including asphalt pavement maintenance,repair and recycling. Considering this importance, particularly asphalt cracks, this study hasattempted to obtain an acceptable model for the thermal cracking function.Thermal cracking of asphalt pavements is studied using finite element method to evaluate the effect of base and asphalt layer elasticity modulus. In order to evaluate the accuracy of theanalysis, measured results and analytical results were compared and great adaptation observed.Then, the effect of increasing of base and asphalt layer elasticity modulus on failure heat and thermal stress is determined. At the end, useful design charts that simultaneously show affects of changes in elasticity modulus of base and asphalt is presented
