چکیده:

This paper provides an optimization of fiber orientation in a polymeric composite laminate using Mathematical Programming Method and 3-dimensional modeling of composite curing. This optimization is based on two main criteria, mechanical strength and residual thermal stress. Mechanical strength is evaluated by averaging Tsai-Hill strength criterion test over whole plies of composite. Test results show whether this criterion applicable or not. Also, 3-dimensional modeling of composite curing is conducted to determine the residual thermal stress in the composite. Based on test results, we found that both mechanical strength and residual thermal stress criteria are necessary to achieve more realistic designs in composite laminates.
