چکیده:

This paper is a review-of some recent contribution in the development of transmission lines mechanical oscillation protection systems generally.
The particular attention is devoted to the conception of optimization process in designing proper system for aeolian vibration and subspan oscillation protection. The mathematical model for calculating the number and optimal place of stockbridge dampers, as well as spacer-damperis described. This model is developed on the very well known energy balance principle (EBP), which presumes relation between energy imparted to the conductor by the wind and energy dissipated by the transmission line. There are two components of the energy dissipated by theransmission line. First is conductor selfdamping , and second is energy accumulated by dampers. The theoretical model is developed on the idea to obtain the best effects of damping system in the whole range ofexpected frequencies of conductor vibration. Concerning the criteria for the choice of type , number and place of protective devices, used in the current practice particularly in yugoslavia and Iran will be discussed.
Some recent examples of transmission lines aeolian vibration protection design are, at the same time , the opportunity to investigate optimization system approach in the case of useof new protective devices. One of the most important parts of this optimization systems is, without doubt, the field measurement, as the final verification of the theoretical assesments. The paper will give some comments and guidelinesn this mater. Finally, certain possibilities in the improvement of whole knowledge and protective systems in the field of TL mechanical oscillation will be discussed.
