The integration of wind power and solar power with the utility network create some technical problems. Electric power generated from wind generator for example is a function of wind velocity. The variation of wind velocity causes the rotor speed, the terminal voltage, the frequency of generator and the output power to vary. The Integrated Renewable Energy and Energy Storage (IREES) system described in this paper can help to minimise these variations. The small size of this system can be used as stand alone system to supply remote areas. The larger size of this system can provide the national network with electricity at a constant power, voltage and frequency. Author is investigating the feasibility of an entirely renewable energy – based electricity supply system (small scale). To talk about entirely renewable energy based electricity supply system (very large scale) is so unrealistic that it will not happen in the next hundred years. The system under investigation has renewable energy as source with a backup unit preferably battery storage device. The objectives of this contribution is to introduce the IREES show theperformance of the system, discuss about the mathematical model used, the computational technique applied and to present results obtained.
