The simulation of turbulent flow in complex geometries needs more care to be resulted in more accurate results. Despite the complexity in the formulations, the body-fitted coordinates seem to be more suitable to solve the complex flow fields. The turbulence models are widely used in the curvilinear coordinate systems without implementing wall’s curvature effect in the formulation. The past literature shows that there has been
rare effort to compare the performances of different κ-ω turbulence models in the body-fitted coordinates. In this work, we study the performance of three κ-ω turbulence models of Wilcox High Reynolds Number, Wilcox Low Reynolds Number, and Abid on a newly developed body-fitted algorithm which utilizes the physical covariant velocity components as the unknown dependent variables in its algorithm. To accomplish our purpose, we solve turbulent flow over a hill and compare the achieved results with available experimental data and others’ numerical solutions.
