چکیده:

Inevitable restriction of water resources particularly underground water in one hand and priority of water applications in domistic and Agriculture use in most regions of Iran on the other hand have caused the wet cooling systems to be replaced by dry cooling systems and gradually bring about their elimination.
One should realize that, consideration of dry system for new projects nowadays is not an option but, it is a matter of necessity.
Actually the deduction of water consumption which is quite obvious and essential in power stations with dry systems specially those equipped with air cooled condenser (ACC) system offers the following benefits :
A) Provides the possibility of installing power plants in dry areas.
B) Eliminates one of the main and conventional criteria for selecting power plant location, in areas having plentiful water availability.
C) Enable the authorities to pay close attention and appreciate the other required criteria such as,closeness to fuel sources, concent rated load areas, accessibility to man power and etc … for building a power plant.
This report describes briefly about how and why the first ACC was choosed in Iran and also explains the analysis of obtained results after five years of operation.
