Polyethersulfone(PES)-polyvinyl-pyrrolidone(PVP) hemodialysis hollow fiber membranes were prepared by the dry wet spinning method. Hollow fibers then were heat treated in hot air. Hemodialysis performance of membranes was evaluated by ultrafiltration of dextrans and subsequent MWCO measurement, also separation of bio components such as uric acid, vitamin B12 (VB12) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) at operating pressure of 5 psig. Hemodialysis performance data of heat treated hollow fibers was found to be the most appropriate for hemodialysis application. The hollow fiber morphology is also studied by SEM and AFM microscopy. The hemocompatibility of the membranes were evaluated using platelet rich plasma (PRP) and the mouse L929 fibroblast cells were used to evaluate cytotoxicity of the membranes.
