Turbulent bed contactor device is a relatively new with high efficiency from the point of view of mass and heat transfer. The application of these systems is getting momentum in chemical and petrochemical industries. To obtain information about the hydrodynamic and mass transfer of these systems a TBC on pilot plant scale has been designed and brought in service. Extensive experimental tests are performed on hydrodynamic and mass transfer in this system over a wide range of operating conditions. The effect of operating parameters including gas and liquid flow rate, MEA concentration, on pressure drop, static liquid hold up, gas hold up and mass transfer coefficient are investigated. The experimental results are correlated versus various correlations available in the literature and a Eckert chart for the prediction of hydrodynamic parameters which are need for designing of these system are constructed.
