Manufacturing success and survival are becoming more and more difficult to ensure in a competitive dynamic market. Reconfigure Manufacturing Systems (RMS) is a new paradigm that focuses on manufacturing a high variety of products on the same system. In an RMS adapting the
production with arrival orders which follow Poisson distribution with different arrival rates is an important issue. It is especially important where there is a possibility of missing orders. In this paper, the researchers introduce a method to estimate the behavior of expected inventory level where arrival orders follow Poisson distribution. According to some assumptions, a Mixed Integer Non-linear Programming (MINLP) model is developed to determine optimum sequence of production task, related configuration and production volumes. To solve this model, they proposed
tabu search based procedure which has three types of moves. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the procedure.
