One of the important issues facing project management in real world is estimation of weight of different work elements in a project such as phases, sub-phases and activities. The estimated weights will be used to calculate project progress and other important factors in project planning and control. In this paper, an AHP analysis is conducted to estimate weight values. Two criteria, namely man-hour and work preference, are used in the proposed model to estimate weights. The man–hour and work preference are considered as deterministic and fuzzy factors in the proposed approach, respectively. Each element can be considered as an alternative in the proposed approach to obtain its weight. However, without loss of generality and to avoid tedious calculations, an illustrative example has been included in this paper in which only main phases of a project are taken into consideration. This example indicates that the proposed approach is able to obtain weight of each main-phase in a systematic framework.
