چکیده:

Antique articles are endangered by environment effect such as humidity, and variation of temperature. One possible way is their protection by suitable hydrophobic coatings. In this study, brick and glass samples were considered as substrate. A hybrid nanocomposite coating based on silica nano particles was developed for surface protection. The hybrid coating was characterized by various techniques. In addition, the weathering results beside of contact angles of two commercial products on the coated samples are reported. This surface coating can be acted as a barrier protection against humidity penetration. The contact angle of the samples are measured and compared with the glass coated surface. The results indicate high hydrophobic surface. The comparison of coatings on the two substrates, i.e., glass and brick surface, are also demonstrated. The surface tension depends not only to the coating composition but also to the surface roughness
