چکیده:

The removal of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from synthetic waste gas was studied in a biotrickling filter (BTF) packed with crushed Lava rocks, operating with countercurrent flows of the air and liquid streams. A series of experiments were conducted to assess the performance of BTF under various operating conditions. Experiments were performed at different inlet H2S concentrations – in the range of 20-80 ppm – air volumetric rate, and liquid recirculation rate (LRR). A maximum elimination capacity of 22.5 gH2Sm-3h-1 was observed with more than 95% removal efficiency. Increase in LRR from 250 ml/min to 500 ml/min resulted in a decrease in the H2S elimination capacity.
