The support structures of the large span covers should be lightweight that is why certain types of the tension-strut systems are nowadays often applied for these purposes. Structural systems called cable domes have attached consideration of engineers and architects as an effective solution for large span roofs. Typical forms of these structures have to be suitably pre-stressed and they usually need application of a compression ring located in the perimeter of a cover. The rise of the cable dome structures has to be rather small, which results from the basic rules of the theory of structures and can be considered as an advantageous feature in particular for regions of deep snow covering during winter time. Recently there are proposed structural systems, which can be spaced over each type of the base projection and take optional shape.
