چکیده:

For concrete structures exposed to harsh marine environment, the corrosion of steel rebars play a crucial role in the chloride ions ingress into reinforced concrete for scheduling maintenance or repair operations, the corrosion initiation time of steel rebars and service life predictions. Chloride diffusion coefficient is a significant parameter in Fick’s second law of diffusion that is implemented for estimating the corrosion initiation time of concrete structures. In this study, the relation between the diffusion coefficient and water to cement ratio in concrete with and without silica fume is investigated and compared to each other. Corrosion rate is a significant parameter for estimating the service life of reinforces concrete structures. Corrosion models that were developed in the literature are compared for investigating the relation between the corrosion rate and chloride content and also the corrosion rate and the concrete resistivity in the corrosion initiation and propagation phases
