چکیده:

The region of Algiers (capital of Algeria) is characterized by a moderate seismic activity. However some strong events could occurred as the destructive earthquake (Mw:6.8) which devastated the Boumerdes region on May 21st, 2003
Since the installation in 1998 of a seismic network in the Algiers region, seismic activity is more known. This network formed today by fourteen stations recorded many minor events. This activity allowed to identify some seismic sources. Among them, the offshore faults, the Sahel blind fault and the Blida fault represent the major active structures of the region.
