Shape memory polymers (SMPs) which are a subset of smart materials have been proposed for cardiovascular stents due to their self-expansion ability. In current research, a finite element method (FEM) has been performed to simulate and analyzeshape memory polymer of helical stent due to its stimulation. This work was conducted using ABAQUS /Standard finite element code in conjunction with a user material subroutine. Further, we separate the material domain into glassy and rubberyphases, and then the user-defined material (UMAT) has been used. Finally, the nonlinear FEM in ABAQUS/Standard was used to simulation shape memory effect. The results depicts good agreement in compared with others research using the FEM.
