چکیده:

In the present study, the feasibility of using modified natural zeolite for arsenate (As(V)) removal from
water was evaluated. A new synthetic bolaform, N, N, N, N΄, N΄, N΄-heaxmetheyl-1, 9-nonanediammonium
dibromide was employed for zeolite modification. Batch laboratory experiments were carried out to
investigate the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent and the removal kinetics of arsenate under different pH
values. The maximum removal of As(V) occurred 3.5<pH<12.5. The amounts of As(V) adsorbed increased
with increase in dose of both adsorbents and their contact time. Greater than 95% of the arsenate was
removed at neutral pH after 3 h of mixing with modified zeolite. Typical adsorption isotherms were
determined, which were found to fit sufficiently the typical Langmuir equation and the equilibrium data was
analyzed using this isotherm.
