چکیده:

Stage efficiency of a pilot plant Hanson extraction column with seven stages was measured for the extraction of acetone from aqueous phase (water) into organic phase (toluene). The effect of agitation speed on stage efficiency was investigated and it was observed that the stage efficiency increased with agitation speed and reached a maximum, but after having reached to its maximum, it fell with further increase in agitation speed. The results showed that the stage efficiency varied little by increasing total throughput. It was also observed that the stage efficiency increased by increasing solute concentration.
