چکیده:

In the present study, an Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) system was used to investigate the fluid flow pattern and mixing progress inside a cylindrical vessel by injection of NaCl solution to the vessel and measuring the conductivity change in the vessel. A cylindrical vessel with a diameter of 20 cm and the height of 15 cm, equipped with a six-blade Rushton turbine impeller was used in the experiments. Eight stainless steel electrodes with a width, height and thickness of 36, 20 and 1 mm respectively were installed at the equal spatial intervals inside periphery of the vessel at the height of installed impeller. By injection of a predefined current to a pair of adjacent electrodes, the electrical voltage difference of the other neighboring pair electrodes were measured. The measured electrical voltage data were transferred to a personal computer trough a converter after appropriate amplification. A tomography reconstruction algorithm was used to calculate the spatial conductivity variations over a horizontal cross-section in the vessel to show the homogenization progress.
