Control of drilling-fluid filtration has long been recognized as apart of good drilling practice. Inadequate control of this drilling-fluid property has been associated with borehole instability, excessive torque and drag, pressure differential sticking, formation damage and etc. Control of drilling-fluid filtration characteristics includes not only control of the filtrate volume per unit area and unit time but also the quality of the resulting filter cake formed in the wellbore. Dynamic and static filtration experiments were performed through paper filters. During filtration in dynamic filtrate loss apparatus, fluid mechanically stirs and shear rate provide across the filter cake surface. In this paper the experimental investigation of the filtration properties was conducted as a function of mud types, fluid loss control agents, solids concentration, differential pressure, temperature and shear rate. When compared to static filtration , dynamic filtration of used muds give higher filtrate volume but leads to a cake texture characterized by a more regular network and smaller pore size. Also in this paper correlate the cumulative filtrate volume in dynamic and static filtration condition with differential pressure and temperature.
