چکیده:

Optical fiber is a new communication medium, on which much attention has been attracted recently, Power companies in the world have been studying how to use it for power transmission line by combining it into the overhead ground wires. Then, it is recognized that optical fiber networks are very useful for operation, maintenance, computer application, control and protection of power transmission lines.A method for storing optical fiber into the overhead ground wire has already been developed(hereinafter called OPGW-Optical Fiber Composite Ground Wire).
However,if it is applied to an existing power line, the overhead ground wire must be replaced. The overhead Ground Wire Wrapped Optical fiber cable(hereinafter called GWWOP) has been developed on the basis of such requirements. If it is applied to an existing power line, there are
many advantages compared with OPGW.
This report describes various characteristics of GWWOP and their installation.
