The study outlined in this paper is a research project that was designed to investigate, how principals implement the state-wide policy on teachers professional learning. The focus of the research was principals, teachers, and all members of the school professional learning Teams in three New South Wales (NSW) public primary. Case study methodology was used to investigate the principal is management approach and characteristics of teachers professional learning. The research data was collected by questionnaire, semi-structured interview, and document review. The findings of this study indicate yhat both the principals and teachers had welcomed the implementation of state-wide professional Learning Policy (2004a). The findings also indicate that collaboration between the principal and staff is essential for implementation of the policy.
