چکیده:

Tehran is one of the cities in terms of environmental pollutions caused by industrial processes and urban activities. Particulate Matter concentrations often exceed threshold values at which human health is severely affected. Meteorological factors are known to influence the air pollution level in Tehran. This study addresses the linkages between meteorological processes and air pollution in the lower atmosphere of the Tehran City. Particulate Matter is smaller than 10 micrometers (PM-10) was monitored for one year, and subsequent information of weather
conditions was also collected. The data were then classified according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Air Quality Index (AQI). It was found that a large part of air pollution is caused by different vehicular sources. Concentration levels in Tehran are
also influenced by meteorological factors like, atmospheric stability, wind speed, its direction, and precipitation. The physical setting of Tehran also influences air pollution concentrations. Since the variation in PMlO concentration is influenced by different meteorological factors in addition to sources, a forecast model for PMlO based on meteorological factors is recommended for two cases .We need to save the children, s life for tomorrow and the environment of today by doing something to prevent air pollutions.
