The extra-circulation phenomenon and its effects on the conceptual design of a high-subsonic civil jet transport aircraft with thrust-vectoring (TV) are considered. The TV mechanism uses two externally adjustable exhaust nozzles with wing-mounted twin turbofan engines. The main equations dealing with the extra-circulation factors of a ‘vectored aircraft’ are developed. An iterative computer program (ICP) has been written tofind out the effects of changing the extra circulation factor on the design and performance of a civil jet aircraft with and without TV. Six wing-jet-flap configurations have been studied during the computational and experimental work of the project to investigate the extra-circulation phenomenon due to jet deflections in pitch plane. The experiments will be compared with the results of vortex lattice method (VLM) using amodified version of a NASA code for the six wings and two jets.
