the dynamic response of a foundation is strongly influenced by its dynamics interaction with the support unbounded domain of soil. To obtain reliable results the anisotropy and non-homogeneity of a soil developed during its formation process has to be considered. In this paper the novel scaled boundary finite-element method is extended to simulate time-harmonic responses of non-homogeneous unbounded domains whose modulus of elasticity and mass density vary ad power functions of spatial coordinates. Only the boundary is discredited yielding a reduction of the spatial dimension by one. Unlike the boundary element method no foundamental solution required. To enforce the radiation condition at the infinity, an asymptotic expansion of the dynamics – stiffness matrix for high frequency is developed. Material anisotropy can be handled without additional efforts. A numerical example of non-homogeneous transversely isotropic unbounded domain demonstrates the accuracy and simplicity of this method.
