چکیده:

A new structural model in ABAQUS software for the torsional and bending buckling of perfect and defective single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is developed in the Letter. This model is a combination of other structural models designed to eliminate the deficiencies inherent in each of the individual approaches. The effect of different types of vacancy defects on the critical buckling torques and twist angles is studied for zigzag and armchair nanotubes with various lengths. The effect of different types of defects (vacancy and Stone-Wales) at various locations on the critical bending buckling moments is also studied. Finally, results of the present structural model are compared with those from molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and show good agreement between our model and the MD model.
