چکیده:

In this investigation, epoxy-based hybrid nanocomposites containing both a montmorillonite (MMT) filler and a carboxyl-terminated, butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer (CTBN) modifier have been prepared. The morphology and toughening mechanisms of the hybrid epoxy nanocomposite were characterized. The fracture toughness of these epoxy-based composites was found to be a function of the type and the amount of the second phase particle used. Microscopy revealed a competition between the toughening mechanisms in the hybrid nanocomposites
