چکیده:

In this article, algebraic trial functions are used in order to analyze free vibration of undamped rectangular plate with free edges. The Ritz energy approach is employed here to obtain the approximate natural frequencies of plates. The plates are considered to satisfy Kirchhoff’s hypothesis. A complete power series is used as admissible functions for out-of-plane displacements. In the numerical examples the accuracy of the present results is compared with previous results and their consistency is checked by means of finite difference method. Finally the method is used for beams with at least one free edge.
