چکیده:

A key to success any drilling well job is to minimize costs along with safety, health, environmental and without drilling problems. To minimize the cost of drilling, the rate of penetration should be increased. In this case drilling optimization plays an important role. Drilling optimization as a concept has been slow in its developmental path. But it has turn out to be a cornerstone of the modern drilling engineering. This paper reports an application of multiple regression analysis on the Surmeh formation, in the Salman field in the Persian Gulf Area, by using the Bourgoyne and Young model. The optimum penetration rate (ROP) which was estimated by this model has some differences with the actual ROP. And also this paper presents as Bourgoyne and Young model was determined from conventional reservoirs it can not used for fractured reservoirs because it can not show the effect of fracture
