Imaging lidar in which a beam of light is used to resolve the size and shape of an object has demonstrated impressive performance for detecting and classifying underwater targets. Some problems such as detecting the water surface and objects that lie near the below surface exist in this lidars. In this paper the software disconsolation method is used to overcome these problems. Disconsolation is a noise sensitive method. To increase the signal to noise ratio the wavelet denoising method is used. Numerical simulations show that by using the wavelet disconsolation the water surface measurements and object detection is improved.
