In this research, synthesis of zeolite NaA membrane was investigated. In order to find out the most effective factor on preparation of a defect free zeolite membrane, an L18 orthogonal array was used. The investigated factors were: Na2O/Al2O3, SiO2/Al2O3 and H2O/Al2O3 ratios, crystallization temperature, synthesis time and number of coating. For each factor, three levels were selected. Quantity of each level was determined from its histogram. Taguchi’s method was applied to synthesis of zeolite NaA membrane. Experimental design was used to understand the effect of each factor. Separation factor of membranes was used as response factor. By comparison of XRD patterns andseparation factors, it was observed that hydroxy sodalite (HS) zeolite membrane had also very high separation factor. The most effective factor on synthesis of zeolite NaA membrane was found to be surface preparation and synthesis time. Zeolite membranes with high separation factor were synthesized.
