Voltage sag is one of the most important power quality problems which occurs frequently in distribution systems and cause production loss in voltage sensitive customers. Due to voltage sags the reliability of distribution system decrease severely from the view point of these customers. Custom power devices are the most famous compensators in distribution systems. Among these devices Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is known as a cost /effective voltage sag compensator. This paper at first presents reliability evaluation of Dynamic Voltage Restorer using Markov model of it’s components, then this evaluation is extended for m-module DVR. Improvement of load point reliability indices, is analyzed in two industrial sensitive loads, using multi module DVR. Finally the interruption cost of a voltage sensitive customer is analyzed with respect to number of DVR’s modules in Brazilian distribution system.
