In this paper, solution methods to reduce the aerodynamic coefficient in cargo trains are investigated. Due to energy consumption controlling and its reduction importance, reducing resistances against train movement is necessary and has been neutralized by locomotive traction power. One of the dominant resistances is aerodynamic one, and for its reduction in cargo trains, different investigations has been accomplished on effects of different top covers, and amount of loads in different size and kinds of wagons. Since there is no comparison between all these methods, in this paper, all these solution methods are investigated and at the end of the paper, the most efficient method for aerodynamic drag reduction in some freight wagon types is introduced.
