Bowl-shape settlement is common settlement in steel storage tank located on soft soil, and may cause the rupture of steel storage tank. This paper investigates the effect of ringwall size on the bowl-shaped settlement. three kinds of bowl- settlement and the site calculated settlement was investigated. The desired oil storage steel tank is to be built in Mahshahr (Southern Iran) and has a ratio between the diameter and the height of order 4 with slenderness ratio (radius to thickness) of the order of 1000 (first course) to 3750 (last coarse). Six size of ringwall is compared in this paper to show, what the most effective size of ringwall in this steel tank is.
